REASI, SEPT 19: Katra Police arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered heroin from his possession during naka checking on the Reasi–Jammu road at Chungi, police said.
A police party from Police Station Katra was conducting naka checking around 4:05 pm when it noticed a man walking towards Reasi from Asia Chowk.
On seeing the police party, the suspect allegedly attempted to flee but was apprehended by the personnel.
The accused was identified as Bittu Singh, son of Satpaul Singh, resident of Arli Road, Ward No. 3, Kundrorian, Katra.
During his personal search, police recovered a white polythene packet containing brown-coloured powder from the left pocket of his trousers. The substance was identified as heroin and seized as per procedure.
A case vide FIR Number 298/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra, and further investigation is underway.
Police said the action forms part of its continued drive against drug trafficking and narcotic-related activities in the region.
