During the operation, joint teams carried out extensive searches at various locations and destroyed wild Bhung (cannabis) plants found growing in the area. The action was aimed at preventing the plants from being used for preparation of illicit narcotic substances.
Officials said the coordinated enforcement drive reflects the commitment of the Police and Excise Department to check the spread of narcotic substances and prevent drug abuse, particularly among the younger generation.
Ganderbal Police said such proactive enforcement and preventive operations will continue across the district to identify and eliminate sources of narcotic substances.
Police also appealed to the public to cooperate with law-enforcement agencies and contribute towards the collective objective of making Jammu & Kashmir Nasha Mukt.
