SDRF conducts awareness drives, deploys teams for Gangbal Yatra safety


JAMMU, SEPT 18: Home Guards, Civil Defence and State Disaster Response Force (HG/CD & SDRF) J&K on Friday undertook a series of awareness, preparedness and operational activities across the Union Territory, focusing on disaster response skills, public safety and pilgrim security.

As part of its outreach initiative, SDRF Component Rajouri conducted the first day of a five-day awareness camp at Government Higher Secondary School, Dehri Layote, Manjakote. The programme focused on building awareness among students and participants about emergency response and basic disaster-management measures.

Similarly, SDRF Sub-Component Banihal organised a one-day awareness programme at Government High School, Kaskoot, Banihal, where participants were trained in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Medical First Response (MFR), physical examination of victims and vigilance awareness. Practical demonstrations were also conducted to provide hands-on understanding of emergency response techniques.

Meanwhile, SDRF teams were deployed at strategic locations along the route of the three-day annual Gangbal Yatra, which was flagged off from Naranag in Ganderbal, to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims undertaking the sacred journey.

The deployed teams remained prepared to respond to emergencies and provide timely medical assistance and disaster-response support to pilgrims throughout the yatra.

The activities formed part of SDRF J&K’s continuing efforts to strengthen community preparedness, emergency response capabilities and safety mechanisms across the UT.
