NUBRA, SEPT 16: Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nubra, Mohd Safdar Bhat, chaired a meeting on Wednesday to review issues concerning the Karakoram (Nubra-Shyok) Wildlife Sanctuary at the Conference Hall of the SDM Office Complex, Nubra.

The meeting focused on the ongoing statutory proceedings for determining the existence, nature and extent of rights of persons over land falling within the notified limits of the sanctuary.

Bhat, who has been appointed as the Collector-cum-Settlement Officer for the purpose, reviewed the progress and requisite procedures in this regard.

Detailed deliberations were also held on completion of the statutory proceedings, preparation and submission of relevant revenue records and maps to the competent authority, rationalisation of sanctuary boundaries and determination of rights within the notified area.

The meeting brought together Tehsildars of Sumoor and Diskit, former Councillors of Nubra, officials of the Forest and Wildlife Department including the Range Officer, Patwaris and Revenue Department officials, religious heads and other stakeholders from across Nubra District.

The SDM emphasised coordinated efforts among the concerned departments and stakeholders for completion of the prescribed proceedings and proper documentation of records relating to the sanctuary.
