Srinagar, Sep 26: The event was organised to felicitate around 450 graduating students from various Engineering and Management streams. Prof. (Dr.) Nilofer Khan, Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir, was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Syed Altaf Bukhari, former Minister for Education and Finance, graced the event as the Guest of Honour.
The ceremony was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including Mrs Roma Wani (KAS), former Member, National Managing Body, Red Cross Society; Dr G.N. Qasba (IAS), former Commissioner, SMC and Senior Advisor, IRADs; Sheikh Tausif Ahmad, MD & CEO, Milli Group of Institutions; Abdul Rouf Tramboo, Director, Khyber Industries; Abdul Manan Tramboo, Managing Director, Khyber Agro Private Limited; Shahzadi Simon, former Indian television producer and director; Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan, Director/Producer; and Prof. (Dr.) Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo, Government Degree College Pattan. Prominent alumni of the college and other distinguished guests also graced the occasion.
Welcoming the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and other dignitaries, Mrs Dilafrose Qazi, Chairperson of the Institute, expressed her gratitude to the dignitaries, alumni, faculty members and graduating students for being part of the occasion.
In her address, she presented a brief overview of the institution and highlighted the recent achievements of its students in academics, professional placements and extracurricular activities. She also appreciated the accomplishments of students who have successfully competed in the job market and brought laurels to the institution.
Speaking on the occasion, Syed Altaf Bukhari, former Minister for Education and Finance, appreciated the efforts of the college authorities and acknowledged the institution’s contribution to the education sector. While congratulating the graduating students, he wished them success in their future endeavours.
He encouraged the students to explore entrepreneurship, establish startups and develop innovative projects that can contribute to society and create employment opportunities.
Prof. (Dr.) Nilofer Khan, Vice-Chancellor, University of Kashmir, lauded the role of SSM College of Engineering in strengthening the education ecosystem of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly during difficult and challenging times. She appreciated the institution’s efforts in introducing new and industry-relevant courses in recent years.
She advised the college authorities to continue exploring emerging academic programmes, promote innovative projects and startups, and further strengthen placement opportunities for students.
A highlight of the ceremony was the distribution of approximately 450 graduation certificates by the Chief Guest in the presence of the distinguished dignitaries. The certificates were presented to graduating students from various Engineering and Management programmes.
In his concluding remarks, the Principal of the college expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and all other dignitaries for sparing their valuable time to grace the occasion. He also acknowledged the contributions of the teaching and non-teaching staff, print media and security personnel whose efforts helped make the graduation ceremony a successful and memorable event.
Besides the distribution of certificates, students of the college presented a series of cultural programmes, adding to the festive spirit of the occasion and entertaining the gathering.
The ceremony concluded on a celebratory note, marking an important milestone in the academic journey of the graduating students and wishing them success in their professional and entrepreneurial pursuits.
