Teacher suspended over alleged harassment of female student in Ramban

RAMBAN, SEPT 16: A Government school teacher has been placed under immediate suspension following allegations of harassment of a female student at a school in Ramban district, officials said.

The action was taken against Raiz Ahmed, posted at Government High School Harroge in Zone Gool, after an inquiry committee submitted its report to the authorities.

The inquiry committee was constituted on September 14 following a complaint by a girl student alleging harassment by the teacher at the school.

According to an order issued by the Chief Education Officer, Ramban, Ahmed was suspended under Rule 31 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules, 1956.

During the suspension period, the teacher has been attached to Government Primary School Bhatta in Zone Khari, the order stated.

The authorities said further administrative action would be taken after due consideration of the findings of the inquiry committee.

The suspension comes as an interim administrative measure pending further proceedings, officials said.
