AWANTIPORA, SEPT 12: J&K Police in Awantipora organised a series of sporting activities under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026–27, bringing together local youth for a day of competition, fitness and positive community engagement.
The programme featured a Volleyball Tournament, Girls’ Kho-Kho competition and Race events, witnessing enthusiastic participation from young boys and girls. The participants displayed impressive sporting talent, team spirit, discipline and determination throughout the competitions.
The sporting activities provided local youth with a platform to showcase their abilities while encouraging them to adopt sports and other healthy, constructive pursuits. The participation of girls in the Kho-Kho competition added further momentum to the initiative and highlighted the importance of encouraging greater participation of young women in sporting activities.
The events concluded in a cordial and enthusiastic atmosphere, with participants and organisers appreciating the opportunity to come together through sports. Mementoes and medals were distributed among winners and participants, while sports kits were also provided to encourage the youth to continue participating in sports beyond the event.
Refreshments were served to the participants and attendees at the conclusion of the programme.
J&K Police said such initiatives under CAP 2026–27 are aimed at channelising the energy of youth towards positive activities, nurturing sporting talent and promoting physical fitness, while simultaneously creating opportunities for greater interaction between police personnel and the local community.
Police reiterated its commitment to strengthening police-public relations and youth engagement through continued sports, welfare and community-oriented programmes across Awantipora.
