Zainapora Police arrests drug peddler, recovers 1.95 gms heroin, ₹12,050 cash

SHOPIAN, OCT 7: Intensifying its campaign against narcotics trafficking, Zainapora Police arrested a drug peddler during naka checking at Aglar and recovered 1.95 grams of a heroin-like substance along with ₹12,050 in cash, officials said.

The action was carried out by a police party from Police Station Zainapora, which intercepted a person found moving under suspicious circumstances during routine checking. A subsequent search led to the recovery of the suspected contraband and cash.

The accused has been identified as Feroz Ahmad Mir, son of Noor Mohd Mir, a resident of Litter, Pulwama. Police have registered FIR NNumber 126/2026 under relevant provisions of law at Police Station Zainapora and initiated further investigation.

Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the recovery and are working to trace the source of the suspected narcotic substance and establish its forward and backward linkages, including possible connections with a wider supply and distribution network.

The latest action forms part of Shopian Police’s continuing anti-narcotics operations aimed at preventing the movement and distribution of drugs and identifying individuals involved in the local narcotics chain.

Police have also appealed to residents to share credible information regarding drug peddling, illegal cultivation of narcotic plants and substance abuse in their localities. Officials said information provided by citizens would be treated with confidentiality, while cooperation from the public remains important in strengthening efforts against the drug menace.
