JAMMU, OCT 5: In a bid to connect students with the life, legacy and nation-building contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, 1 JKAP Border organised a drawing competition on the theme “The Life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel” at Government Higher Secondary School, Bhalwal, Jammu, under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026-27.
The event was organised as part of the observance of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who portrayed their understanding of the former Deputy Prime Minister and his contribution to the unity and integration of the nation through creative artwork.
The participating students presented their ideas with confidence, imagination and enthusiasm, turning the competition into an engaging platform for creative expression, historical awareness and civic learning. The initiative also sought to familiarise young students with the values associated with Sardar Patel, including unity, discipline, courage, determination and responsible citizenship.
Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Pooja Kanotra, along with members of the faculty, officers and jawans of 1 JKAP Border, attended the programme and encouraged the participating students. The efforts of the students were appreciated, while they were encouraged to continue nurturing a spirit of discipline, national unity and social responsibility.
The competition concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, during which the top three performers were felicitated with mementos, certificates and cash awards. Master Amrik secured the first position and received a memento, Certificate of Appreciation and cash reward of ₹2,000. Miss Farzana Khatoon stood second and was awarded a memento, certificate and ₹1,500, while Master Shiv secured the third position and received a memento, certificate and ₹1,000.
Other participating students were also recognised for their efforts. Certificates of participation, consultation and appreciation, along with a cash reward of ₹250 each, were presented to encourage wider participation and acknowledge their contribution to the event.
The school administration appreciated 1 JKAP Border for organising the student-oriented programme under the Civic Action Programme and expressed hope that similar initiatives would be conducted regularly. Such engagements, the organisers said, provide students with opportunities to develop confidence and creativity while strengthening their connection with national values, civic responsibility and community participation.
