KUPWARA, SEPT 20: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sujit Kumar, reviewed the security situation, counter-terrorism grid, law and order preparedness and crime scenario in Kupwara during a visit to the district on Sunday, directing officers to maintain heightened vigilance and operational readiness.
IGP Kashmir was accompanied by DIG North Kashmir Range Dr Vinod Kumar.
During the visit, SSP Kupwara Al Tahir Gilani briefed the IGP on the prevailing security scenario, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, intelligence inputs, area domination measures, security of vulnerable locations, law and order preparedness and the overall crime situation.
The IGP directed officers to further strengthen the counter-terrorism grid, maintain close coordination among different security and intelligence agencies and ensure effective implementation of area domination measures.
He also stressed the need for continuous assessment of security arrangements at vulnerable locations and prompt action based on actionable intelligence.
Kumar also reviewed the district’s law and order preparedness and crime-control measures, directing the concerned officers to remain proactive and ensure a prompt response to emerging security and public-order challenges.
During the visit, the IGP inspected the Temporary Operating Base (TOB) at Dardpora and interacted with personnel of the Special Operations Group (SOG).
He took stock of their operational preparedness, field deployment and security arrangements.
While appreciating the commitment, dedication and professionalism of the personnel deployed in challenging operational areas, the IGP directed them to maintain the highest level of alertness, coordination and preparedness during field operations.
The visit focused on strengthening the district’s security architecture, improving operational coordination and ensuring that police and security personnel remain fully prepared to respond to emerging threats and law-and-order challenges.
