SRINAGAR, SEPT 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has signalled a stringent approach towards any violation of child safety, with Education Minister Sakina Itoo declaring that there will be “no compromise, no exceptions” for anyone who breaches the trust placed in schools and educational institutions.
Reacting to the government’s action in the Kishtwar case involving a minor girl, Itoo said the safety of children would remain paramount and warned that violations would invite the strongest action permissible under law.
“Schools are institutions of trust, and anyone who violates that trust will face the strongest action permissible under law,” the Education Minister said in a post on X.
The Minister said the government had acted decisively in the Kishtwar case in accordance with the commitment made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
The accused government employee was dismissed from service under Article 311(2)(b) of the Constitution in connection with a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Itoo said the action demonstrated the government’s stated commitment to safeguarding the safety, dignity and future of children, particularly within educational institutions entrusted with their care and education.
She stressed that every child must have access to a school environment where safety and dignity are protected and where students can learn and grow without fear.
“Every child deserves a safe school and a secure environment to learn and grow,” Itoo said.
Her message ended with an unequivocal warning on the government’s position on child safety: “No compromise. No exceptions.”
