JAMMU, SEPT 29: Sainik Colony Police has busted an alleged counterfeit currency printing racket operating from a rented premises in the Chowadhi area, arresting three persons and recovering suspected fake ₹100 notes along with a printing machine, inks, paper cutter and other material allegedly used in the operation.
Acting on specific information regarding the suspected manufacture of counterfeit currency, a team from Police Post Sainik Colony, raided the premises and apprehended Vijay Sahani, son of Nagina Sahani, a resident of Siwan, Bihar, presently staying at Preet Nagar, Digana; Indrajeet Kumar, son of Abdesh Mandal, a resident of Maharajpur, Sahib Ganj, Jharkhand, presently staying at Trikuta Nagar; and Rahul Ahirwar, son of Bhagwan Das Ahirwar, a resident of Khajraoo, Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh, presently staying at Marble Market.
During the search, police seized suspected counterfeit ₹100 currency notes having a face value of ₹13,500, besides a printing machine, paper cutter, bottles of different-coloured ink, one toka and documents and other material suspected to be connected with the alleged counterfeit currency operation.
A case, FIR Number 269/2026 under Sections 178, 180, 181 and 3(5) of the BNS and Section 4/25 of the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Channi Himmat.
The seizure has triggered a wider probe into the alleged racket, with investigators examining where the printing material was sourced, how the counterfeit notes were being prepared, where they were intended to be circulated and whether more persons were involved in the operation.
The crackdown assumes significance as police intensify action against activities capable of undermining the integrity of the currency system.
Further investigation is underway to uncover the complete network behind the alleged counterfeit currency operation.
