LEH, OCT 7: A comprehensive Crime Review Meeting was held at DPO Changthang under the chairmanship of SSP Changthang, with the police leadership taking detailed stock of investigations, enquiries, inquest proceedings and missing-person cases across the jurisdiction.
The meeting brought together SHO Police Station Nyoma, In-Charges of Police Posts Tangse and Chushul, and all Investigating Officers and Enquiry Officers associated with Police Station Nyoma, Police Post Tangse and Police Post Chushul. The status of pending matters was reviewed case-wise, with emphasis on ensuring that investigations and enquiries are completed efficiently and strictly in accordance with the law.

The SSP also issued directions to the SHO and Police Post In-Charges to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards the illegal sale and distribution of illicit liquor, drugs and other contraband within their respective jurisdictions. Officers were asked to strengthen local surveillance, take prompt legal action against violators and sustain enforcement efforts against activities affecting public safety and order.
Emphasising the importance of effective supervision, the SSP directed supervisory officers to maintain close monitoring of investigations and enquiries, identify delays and ensure corrective action wherever required. Particular emphasis was laid on timely disposal of cases while safeguarding due process and ensuring that all action remains firmly grounded in law.
The meeting also reinforced the need for sustained field-level efforts to curb illicit activities, maintain public order and strengthen policing across the remote Changthang jurisdiction.
The SSP reiterated that effective supervision, professional investigation, timely case disposal and firm enforcement against illegal activities would remain key priorities for the police in maintaining a safe and orderly environment across the area.
