Surprise checks of medical shops in Chogul; one outlet sealed for violating prescribed norms

HANDWARA, OCT 7: In a joint enforcement drive aimed at ensuring compliance with drug-sale regulations and preventing the misuse of medicines, Handwara Police and the Drug Controller Department conducted surprise inspections of medical shops in Chogul under the jurisdiction of Police Post Chogul.

The checking was led by IC Police Post Chogul SI Touseef Ahmad, along with officials of the Drug Controller Department, who inspected medical establishments to verify compliance with prescribed rules governing the sale, storage and handling of medicines.

During the inspection, one medical shop, identified as Gen Ahshudi at Chogul, was seized after it was found violating prescribed norms, officials said. The action was taken as part of the ongoing monitoring of pharmaceutical outlets and efforts to prevent the unauthorised sale or misuse of medicines.

The joint inspection also focused on strengthening regulatory oversight of medical establishments and ensuring that medicines are stored and dispensed in accordance with applicable requirements.

Police said such checks would help maintain strict vigilance over the pharmaceutical trade, curb violations and safeguard public health and safety. The authorities reiterated that establishments found operating in violation of prescribed regulations would be dealt with under the applicable law.
