ANANTNAG, OCT 7: In a technology-driven initiative to assist citizens in recovering lost property, Aishmuqam Police has traced and recovered 11 stolen or missing mobile phones during 2026 through effective utilisation of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) Portal.
The recovered devices were traced across different districts of Jammu & Kashmir as well as outside the Union Territory, demonstrating the utility of the CEIR system in tracking mobile devices beyond the jurisdiction where they were originally reported missing or stolen.
In a significant recovery, one stolen or missing mobile phone was traced to Badhapur in Uttar Pradesh. Police subsequently coordinated its recovery and handed over the device to its rightful owner.
The recoveries were made through the dedicated efforts of Police Station Aishmuqam and CCTNS operators, who utilised the CEIR Portal to generate leads, track the devices and facilitate their recovery.
The initiative highlights the growing role of digital technology and centralised equipment tracking systems in modern policing, particularly in cases involving stolen or missing mobile devices. By leveraging the CEIR platform, police can pursue devices across geographical jurisdictions and improve the prospects of returning recovered property to citizens.
Aishmuqam Police said it remains committed to technology-enabled policing and citizen-centric service delivery, while encouraging people who lose or have their mobile phones stolen to report the matter promptly so that available digital mechanisms can be utilised for tracing and recovery.
