BANDIPORA, SEPT 13: Aligant Warriors SK Bala emerged champions of the Cricket Tournament organised by Bandipora Police under the Civic Action Programme (CAP)-2026 at Sports Stadium, Pushwari Naidkhai, Sumbal, defeating Gamdoo Strikers in the final.
The tournament saw enthusiastic participation from 16 teams, which competed in a knockout format. In the title clash, Aligant Warriors SK Bala produced a convincing performance to clinch the championship, while Gamdoo Strikers finished runners-up.
The closing ceremony was attended by SSP Bandipora Ajaz Ahmed Zargar-JKPS, SDPO Sumbal Nawaz Ahmed Khanday and SHO Police Station Sumbal, besides police personnel, sports enthusiasts and members of the local community. A large gathering of spectators cheered the teams during the final.
The winning and runner-up teams were presented trophies, medals and cash prizes, while players were appreciated for displaying discipline, sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the tournament.
Addressing the gathering, SSP Bandipora said sports play an important role in channelising the energy of youth towards healthy and constructive pursuits. He said Bandipora Police would continue organising sports and youth engagement programmes under CAP-2026 to provide positive opportunities to young people and further strengthen police-public relations.
