Bilaliya Educational Institute (BEI) today held its Annual Celebration 2026, “A Celebration of Learning, Character & Nature,” at its Lal Bazar campus with great enthusiasm and participation from students, parents, faculty, guests and well-wishers.
The celebration commenced with a plantation drive at the BEI campus, led by Dr Naseer Ahmad Wani, Director School Education, Kashmir, along with Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, Chief Education Officer (CEO), Srinagar, and Fayaz Ahmad Fayaz, Media Advisor, Department of Education. The distinguished guests planted saplings on the campus, symbolising BEI’s continued commitment to environmental awareness, sustainability and nature-based learning.
Following the plantation, the upgraded ECO Club of Bilaliya Educational Institute was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr Naseer Ahmad Wani, in the presence of the distinguished guests, Chairman BEI, members of the Managing Committee, faculty, staff, students and parents.
The inauguration of the upgraded ECO Club further reinforced the central theme of this year’s celebration—“Learning, Character & Nature”—and reflected BEI’s efforts to nurture environmental consciousness and responsible citizenship among its students.
The formal Annual Celebration programme commenced thereafter, with Dr Naseer Ahmad Wani as the Chief Guest.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, IPS, SSP Traffic Srinagar; Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, Chief Education Officer (CEO), Srinagar; Fayaz Ahmad Fayaz, Media Advisor, Department of Education; Dr Farooq Ahmed Wani, former Secretary Education BOSE and core member, NLCO; Dr Farooq Wasil, Director, ThinkSite Services, Dubai; Dr Anwar Bari, Director, Al-Amina Private School, Sharjah, UAE; Dr Haleema Sadiya, educationist and Managing Director, EDUFAM; Shafqat Jahan and Sheikh Abdul Rashid, members of the BEI Managing Committee; Tasneem Akhter, Officer, ICDS; and Dr Mushtaq Margoob, psychiatrist and Core Group Member of the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO).
Welcoming the guests, Chairman BEI Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest, distinguished guests, parents, partners, students, faculty and staff for being part of the annual celebration.
Reflecting on BEI’s journey, Wangnoo said that the institution had begun with a humble beginning and had gradually grown into a large educational community. He thanked everyone who had contributed to the institution’s development and emphasised that the journey had been made possible through the collective efforts of teachers, staff, parents, partners and well-wishers.
Chairman Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo also hailed the leadership of Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha in strengthening the collective resolve against drug abuse and promoting the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat. He emphasised that educational institutions have an important role in protecting young minds from substance abuse by promoting awareness, character-building, healthy lifestyles and positive values.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Jammu and Kashmir Police for their continued support, cooperation and efforts towards maintaining a safe and secure environment for students and the wider community. He acknowledged the role played by the police in supporting initiatives aimed at protecting children and youth from drug abuse and other social challenges.
The Annual Celebration featured a wide range of performances by BEI students, including skits, plays, speeches, rhymes and other cultural and educational presentations. The students’ performances were warmly appreciated by the audience, with the guests expressing their admiration for their confidence, creativity and preparation.
Environment remained a central theme of the programme. The plantation drive and inauguration of the upgraded ECO Club at the beginning of the celebration underlined BEI’s commitment to making environmental consciousness an integral part of education. Through various student presentations and performances, the institution further highlighted the importance of environmental awareness, responsible citizenship and the need to protect and nurture nature.
BEI has been pursuing a number of environment-oriented initiatives, including nature-based learning, plantation activities, herbal and medicinal plant initiatives, waste management and its vision of developing a more nature-connected learning environment.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo appreciated the dedication and hard work of the Principal, faculty and staff of BEI, congratulating them for their commitment towards the students and the institution.
He also thanked the parents for their continued support and the students for their enthusiasm and affection towards the institution.
“Our Annual Celebration is not merely a cultural programme. It is an opportunity to celebrate what our children are learning, how they are growing and the values we hope they will carry forward in life. At BEI, we believe education must develop knowledge, character and responsibility towards nature and society,” Wangnoo said.
Mementos were presented to the distinguished guests as a mark of appreciation for their presence and support.
The guests appreciated the performances of the students and commended BEI for creating opportunities for children to express themselves beyond the classroom, while also appreciating the institution’s efforts towards environmental education and student engagement.
The celebration concluded with BEI expressing its gratitude to all the guests, parents, partners, students, teachers and staff whose participation and efforts contributed to making Annual Celebration 2026 a memorable occasion.
