NEW DELHI, SEPT 27: The Centre and States will deliberate on preparedness for the upcoming Rabi season at a two-day National Conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign 2026, beginning Monday at the Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam Auditorium, NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi.
Organised by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, the conference will bring together Union and State Agriculture Ministers, senior government officials, ICAR representatives and other stakeholders to formulate coordinated strategies for increasing agricultural production, improving productivity and strengthening farmers’ incomes.
Union Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the conference, which will also take forward the key outcomes and recommendations emerging from the recently held Zonal Conferences on Agriculture.
The opening day will centre on three broad thematic areas — Atmanirbharta, Diversification and Production Growth; Sustainability and Climate-Resilient Agriculture; and Digital Agriculture, Infrastructure, Financing and Risk Management.
The discussions will cover a wide range of issues, including the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, oilseeds and oil palm, horticulture and cotton development, seed availability and reforms in the seed value chain, natural farming, soil health, farm mechanisation, FPO financing and infrastructure, marketing reforms and the implementation of PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana.
The conference will also review Kisan Credit Card coverage, Digital Agriculture, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, plant protection and agricultural statistics, with the thematic sessions focusing on implementation bottlenecks and State-specific requirements.
The second day will shift focus to operational preparedness for the Rabi campaign, including the seasonal weather outlook, fertilizer availability and balanced fertilizer use, Digital Agriculture Mission, Farmer Registry, Digital Crop Survey and AgriStack.
Participants will further deliberate on pulses and edible oil missions, crop and seed availability, varietal adoption, PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, marketing reforms and preparation of Agriculture Plans through ATMA and KVKs.
State Agriculture Ministers will also present their respective priorities, experiences and suggestions, providing an opportunity to identify State-specific challenges and strengthen Centre-State coordination in implementation of agricultural programmes.
The concluding session will consolidate the recommendations emerging from the conference and seek to prepare a coordinated roadmap for the Rabi Campaign 2026, with emphasis on higher crop production, sustainable agriculture, improved delivery of schemes and greater support to farmers.
The deliberations are expected to contribute to the broader objectives of Atmanirbharta and Viksit Bharat, while strengthening the country’s food and nutritional security.
