Gambling den busted, six apprehended with ₹3,600 stake money

SAMBA, OCT 3: In a decisive crackdown on illegal gambling, Rakh Amb Talli Police busted a gambling den near Phase-III, SIDCO, Samba, and apprehended six persons allegedly involved in gambling with money at stake. The operation also led to the recovery of ₹3,600 in stake money, playing cards, three mobile phones, two silver chains and ₹1,600 in cash.

Acting on specific intelligence regarding gambling activity, a team of Police Post Rakh Amb Talli swiftly moved to the identified location and conducted a raid. The police team caught the alleged gamblers at the spot and seized the gambling-related material and other articles during the operation.

The apprehended persons have been identified as Tonu Ram, son of Narenjan Ram Gupta, resident of Jhajhriyal Wala, Baksri Road, Jharkhand, presently at Madhera; Bala Bir, son of Ram Baksh, resident of Durga Gani, Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, presently at Chak Manga Rakwali; Kishan Anuragi, son of Potu Lal, resident of Garhi Malera, Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh, presently at Lala Chack; Ram Babu, son of Raju, resident of Khajwah, Tehsil Rajnagar, Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh, presently at Rakh Amb Talli; Hari Chand Anuragi, son of Sukha Anuragi, resident of Khajwah, Tehsil Rajnagar, Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh, presently at Rakh Amb Talli; and Shyam Lal Ahariwar, son of Alu Ahariwar, resident of Daloon, Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh, presently at Rakh Amb Talli.

During the raid, police recovered ₹3,600 allegedly placed as gambling stakes, along with a set of playing cards, three mobile phones, two silver chains and ₹1,600 in cash.

A case has been initiated under Section 13 of the Gambling Act, and further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the gambling operation and ascertain whether other persons were involved.

The action underscores Samba Police’s intensified crackdown on gambling dens and other unlawful activities, with police teams maintaining surveillance and acting on specific intelligence to prevent such activities from taking root in the district.

Police have reiterated that strict legal action will follow against those found operating, facilitating or participating in illegal gambling activities.
