JAMMU, SEPT 26: Gandhi Nagar Police has cracked a high-value theft case within 24 hours, recovering stolen gold ornaments weighing approximately 300 grams and valued at nearly ₹50 lakh.
The case was registered after Harvinder Kour, wife of Harvinder Singh, resident of Ashok Nagar, Jammu, lodged a complaint alleging theft of around 300 grams of gold ornaments, her original passport and other personal belongings from her bank locker at J&K Bank, Shastri Nagar Branch, Jammu.
Acting swiftly, FIR Number 266/2026 under Section 305 BNS was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar on September 22, following which a detailed investigation was launched.
During the investigation, the SHO Police Station Gandhi Nagar, along with the police team and FSL personnel, inspected the place of occurrence and examined the available evidence.
Sustained investigation, coupled with effective use of technical and human resources, led to the recovery of the stolen gold ornaments within 24 hours of registration of the case.
The recovery of gold worth nearly ₹50 lakh marks a major breakthrough in the case and highlights the swift response of Gandhi Nagar Police in tracing stolen property.
Further investigation and legal proceedings are in progress.
