UDHAMPUR, SEPT 26: Continuous professional training, updated legal knowledge and sensitivity in dealing with vulnerable sections are essential for effective policing, Director Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur, Garib Dass, said while addressing the valedictory function of the GOs Refresher Course and Juvenile Justice Course at the Academy on Saturday.
Garib Dass, who was the chief guest, directed the participating officers to translate the knowledge gained during the courses into practical policing, stressing that supervisory officers must remain updated with changing laws, leadership practices, technological developments and modern policing techniques.
“Officers must continuously upgrade their professional knowledge and skills and effectively utilise the learning acquired through training in their field assignments,” the SKPA Director said, emphasising improved efficiency and service delivery.
On juvenile justice, he directed officers to adopt a sensitive, child-friendly and legally compliant approach while dealing with children in conflict with law and children in need of care and protection.
He stressed the need for officers to remain thoroughly conversant with the provisions of juvenile justice legislation.
The Director said specialised training should equip police personnel to handle emerging challenges with professionalism, competence and sensitivity.
Benam Tosh, Dy. Director SKPA, along with faculty members, attended the function. Certificates were distributed among the participants by the chief guest.
The 15-day GOs Refresher Course was coordinated by Rakesh Sambyal, CPO, SKPA, assisted by Inspector Vikas Manhas, while the Juvenile Justice Course was coordinated by Inspector Rakesh Singh Jamwal, assisted by Ajay Gupta.
