KATHUA, SEPT 28: Lakhanpur Police foiled a suspected bovine smuggling bid, rescuing 15 cattle, arresting the truck driver and seizing the vehicle allegedly used for their transportation.
During naka checking, a police team from Police Station Lakhanpur intercepted truck JK02BT-7145, which was travelling from Punjab towards Jammu and Kashmir.
On checking, police found 15 bovines loaded in the vehicle and rescued them.
The driver, identified as Mohd Sadiq of R.S. Pura, was arrested and the truck seized.
Police registered FIR Number 133/2026 under Section 223 BNS and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act at Police Station Lakhanpur, with further investigation underway.
Lakhanpur Police reiterated its continued action against bovine smuggling and urged the public to share information about such activities through 112 or 09858034100, assuring confidentiality of informants.
