JAMMU, SEPT 28: Dr Satwant Singh Rissam, President of the Young Blood Association (YBA), Jammu & Kashmir, has appealed to people across the Union Territory to come forward and voluntarily donate blood on the occasion of World Heart Day, observed globally on September 29.
Dr Rissam highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives, particularly during medical emergencies, surgeries and other critical situations. He urged citizens to visit nearby government hospital blood banks or participate in blood donation camps organised by the Young Blood Association.
Calling blood donation a humanitarian responsibility, Dr Rissam said every unit donated can help patients in need and contribute to strengthening the availability of blood for emergency healthcare requirements.
He appealed particularly to youth, community leaders, educational institutions and social organisations to encourage greater participation in voluntary blood donation and help build a sustained culture of blood donation across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Young Blood Association, under the leadership of Dr Rissam, has been carrying out awareness and blood donation initiatives aimed at encouraging voluntary donors and supporting patients requiring blood transfusions.
Dr Rissam called upon the public to mark World Heart Day by coming forward for this noble cause, stressing that voluntary blood donation is a direct act of service to humanity and can make a critical difference to patients and families during medical emergencies.
