Srinagar, Sep 26: PDP spokesperson and Constituency Incharge Chanapora Mohammad Iqbal Tramboo and PDP senior leader and Constituency Incharge Habba Kadal Arif Laigaroo joined the ongoing protest of J&K Vocational Trainers in Srinagar and expressed solidarity with their demand for job security, a comprehensive service policy and an end to prolonged uncertainty.
The three-day protest, being held from September 24 to 26, has been organised by the J&K Vocational Trainers Welfare Association (JKVTWA). The trainers are demanding a clear and comprehensive job policy, continuity and protection of their services, resolution of pending salary and service-related issues, and a review of the existing Vocational Training Partner (VTP) arrangement.
Speaking during the protest, Iqbal Tramboo, as per a statement, said that vocational trainers who have served in government schools for nearly a decade cannot be left to work under continued uncertainty. He said the Government must move beyond assurances and take a concrete policy decision addressing their legitimate concerns.
Arif Laigaroo said that the trainers have played an important role in imparting vocational and practical skills to students since the programme was introduced in J&K in 2016. He said their years of service deserve recognition, dignity and a clearly defined employment framework.
The PDP leaders urged the Government to engage with the protesting trainers in a meaningful manner and address their grievances through a time-bound and transparent mechanism. They also stressed that vocational education cannot be strengthened while the people delivering it remain uncertain about their own professional future.
“Those who are preparing our youth for their future cannot themselves be left without a secure future,” the leaders said, urging the administration to resolve the issue at the earliest in the larger interest of vocational education and the trainers who have served the system for years.
