JAMMU, SEPT 24: Security agencies safely neutralised three rusted explosive shells recovered from Palath village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on Thursday, averting a potential danger to residents.
The shells were spotted in the forward village after locals alerted authorities about the suspicious objects.
A bomb disposal squad was immediately called in and carried out the controlled destruction of the unexploded ordnance.
Officials suspect the shells could be remnants of cross-border shelling from several years ago, highlighting the lingering danger posed by unexploded ammunition in border areas.
The shells were destroyed safely without any casualties or damage.
Authorities have advised residents to maintain caution around suspicious objects and immediately inform the police or security forces rather than attempting to handle or shift them themselves.
