KISHTWAR, SEPT 24: Police have stepped up its campaign against the illegal drug trade, arresting two suspected drug peddlers in separate operations and recovering a cannabis-like substance and 123 intoxicant tablets.
In the first case, personnel from Police Post Mughalmaidan, while conducting routine patrolling at Pranzil Sigdi, intercepted Mohd Waris, son of Mohd Rafiq, resident of Pehalgam Sigdi.
A search led to the recovery of a cannabis-like substance.
Police Station Chatroo registered FIR Number 44/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act, and investigation was taken up.
In the second case, a police team conducting patrolling and vehicle checking near BVM School, Kishtwar, intercepted a blue-coloured scooty carrying a suspicious rider.
The rider, identified as Mohd Waris, son of Mohd Tageem, resident of Kichloo Mohalla, was searched and 123 intoxicant tablets were recovered.
A separate case, FIR Number 206/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act, has been registered in connection with the recovery, with further investigation underway.
Kishtwar Police reiterated that its intensified offensive against narcotic and psychotropic substances will continue, with strict legal action against persons involved in the illegal possession, supply and trafficking of drugs.
