Scooty stolen from Sopore hospital recovered, accused arrested

SOPORE, SEPT 30: A scooty stolen from Guru Hospital, Sopore, has been recovered by police with the arrest of the alleged accused, bringing a theft case registered earlier this month to a breakthrough.

The theft was reported on September 25, when Shafqat Mushtaq, son of Mushtaq Ahmad, resident of Sogam Lolab, Kupwara, approached Police Post Bus Stand, Sopore, and lodged a complaint regarding the theft of his scooty bearing registration number JK09D-9681.

Police subsequently registered FIR Number 242/2026 at Police Station Sopore and initiated an investigation.

During the course of the probe, police teams worked on leads generated during the investigation and traced the alleged offender.

The accused was identified as Amir Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Ahmad Lone, resident of Warnow Lolab, and was arrested from Kurhama, Lolab.

The stolen scooty was subsequently recovered from his possession, police said.

Investigators are continuing the probe to establish the complete circumstances of the theft and ascertain whether any further persons or offences are linked to the case.

The case highlights the continued efforts of Sopore Police to track stolen property and pursue offenders involved in property crimes, with further legal action to follow as the investigation progresses.
