LEH SEPT 18: A two-day Seabuckthorn Conclave-cum-Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM) was organised at Leh Main Market on Friday under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, providing local entrepreneurs and artisans a platform to showcase their products and explore new market opportunities.

The stalls set up at the main market were inaugurated by Keshvendra Kumar, Joint Secretary (AFI), RAMP Programme, MoMSME, Government of India.

The exhibition showcased a range of locally produced products, with a special focus on seabuckthorn, a high-value natural resource of Ladakh with significant potential for value addition and commercial development.

The initiative brought together local MSMEs, artisans, entrepreneurs and potential buyers, creating an opportunity to strengthen market linkages and expand the reach of products originating from the Union Territory.

Administrative Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Himanshu Gupta; Director, Industries & Commerce, Sonam Norbu; and Superintendent/Assistant Director, Handloom & Handicrafts, Sachin Bali, besides other officers and officials, artisans and local entrepreneurs, attended the event.

The 18–19 September programme is aimed at providing greater market exposure to local enterprises, facilitating direct buyer-seller interactions and identifying avenues for expanding the commercial potential of Ladakh’s indigenous products.

Officials said the meet is also intended to encourage value addition, entrepreneurship and wider market access for seabuckthorn and other locally manufactured products, thereby supporting the growth of the region’s MSME and handicraft ecosystem.
