KULGAM, SEPT 23: A Srinagar resident was arrested after Qazigund Police recovered approximately 15 grams of heroin-like substance during naka checking on the Qazigund–Dalwach Road near Dooru Crossing along NH-44, officials said.
The naka party from Police Station Qazigund intercepted a Grand i10 car bearing registration number JK01BA-5293, which was travelling from Jammu towards Qazigund.
During checking, the suspected contraband was recovered from the driver-side door pocket of the vehicle.
The accused was identified as Saqib Latief Dagga, son of M. Latief Dagga, resident of Maharaj Gunj, Srinagar.
Following the recovery, FIR Number 230/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Qazigund, and the accused was arrested.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the substance and to establish any possible links in the case.
