JAMMU, OCT 6: A theft targeting telecom infrastructure has been cracked by Pouni Chack Police with the arrest of two accused persons and recovery of three stolen RUS Cards worth approximately ₹7.50 lakh, bringing a significant breakthrough in the case reported from Hazuri Bagh.

The case was registered after three RUS Cards belonging to Indus Towers Limited were stolen from a telecom site on September 27. Following the complaint, Police Station Domana registered a case under Section 303(2) BNS and launched an investigation to identify those behind the theft and trace the specialised equipment.

The investigation was subsequently intensified by Police Post Pouni Chack, with police teams developing leads and questioning suspects believed to be connected with the offence. The sustained investigation led to the identification and arrest of Rashpaul, son of Dewan Chand, resident of Mathwar, Tehsil Akhnoor, and Mohd. Tariq, son of Late Mohd. Sabar, resident of Ustad Mohalla, Jammu.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed their involvement in the theft. Acting on the disclosures, police recovered all three stolen RUS Cards, effectively restoring the entire stolen property valued at around ₹7.50 lakh.

The recovery assumes significance as the stolen equipment formed part of telecom infrastructure, while the police action demonstrates the importance of coordinated investigation at the police-station and police-post level in tracing specialised stolen property.

Further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused were acting alone or as part of a wider network, besides examining their possible involvement in other similar thefts and establishing the disposal or intended use of the stolen equipment.

The successful recovery has added another breakthrough to Jammu Police’s efforts against property-related offences, with investigators now focusing on uncovering any wider links emerging from the interrogation of the arrested accused.
