Jammu, September 9, 2026: The ongoing International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) 2026 continued to generate excitement in Jammu, with a large number of students and members of the public attending day-long screenings of short films and movies from across the world at Wave Cinemas.
Students from several prominent educational institutions, including Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government PG College for Women, Government MAM College, SPMR College of Commerce, Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Bantalab, Government College for Women Parade, University of Jammu and Central University of Jammu, participated in the screenings.
The students described the festival as a unique opportunity to experience international cinema, explore diverse perspectives and gain practical insights into filmmaking and visual storytelling.
Himanshu Dubey, a student of IIMC Jammu, said the festival offered an opportunity to discover international films while developing a broader understanding of filmmaking and visual narratives.
Mass Communication students from Central University of Jammu appreciated the festival as a valuable platform to learn about filmmaking, videography and visual communication. They also encouraged fellow students to participate in the festival and make the most of the learning opportunities.
Professor Paramveer Singh of Central University of Jammu described films as a “mirror of society” and appreciated the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) for organising the first-ever international film festival in the region.
Professor Rabia Javaid termed the festival a historic and enriching experience, highlighting the opportunity it provides students to learn, explore cinema and interact with filmmakers and industry professionals.
She observed that such initiatives could help nurture young talent and create new avenues for aspiring filmmakers and media students in Jammu and Kashmir.
Adding a cultural dimension to the festival celebrations, DIPR Jammu later organised an evening programme featuring folk singing, instrumental performances and theme-based songs.
Singers Vanshika Dogra and Aditya Rao enthralled the audience with their performances, drawing enthusiastic applause. The cultural evening was anchored by Firdos and Prashant Khajuria.
The festival continues to provide a platform for audiences and young filmmakers to connect with diverse cinematic traditions while promoting Jammu and Kashmir as an emerging destination for film, culture and creative expression.
