NEW DELHI, OCT 1: Lieutenant General Akhilesh Kumar, Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal, has assumed command of the Strike One Corps, succeeding Lieutenant General V. Hariharan, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Sena Medal, in a formal change of command within the Indian Army.
Following his assumption of command, Lt Gen Akhilesh Kumar paid a solemn tribute to the Bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation, honouring their contribution and the legacy of those who served before him.
The new Corps Commander subsequently interacted with personnel and called upon all ranks to maintain a high degree of operational preparedness, stressing the need for continued focus, discipline and professional commitment in carrying out assigned responsibilities.
Lt Gen Akhilesh Kumar exhorted troops to continue discharging their duties with utmost zeal and enthusiasm, while maintaining the operational standards expected of the formation and remaining prepared to respond effectively to emerging security requirements.
The change of command marks a transition in the leadership of Strike One, with the incoming commander assuming responsibility for the Corps and its operational responsibilities. The Army’s emphasis during the transition remained centred on combat readiness, professional excellence and sustained commitment to national service.
The Indian Army highlighted the occasion under its “Nation First” ethos, with the new Corps Commander urging all ranks to remain steadfast in their commitment to the defence of the country.
