JAMMU, SEPT 24: Miran Sahib Police has intensified their action against the illegal drug trade, apprehending a peddler and recovering a heroin-like narcotic substance from his possession.
According to police, a team from Police Station Miran Sahib was conducting routine patrolling and naka checking when it noticed a suspicious individual.
On seeing the police party, the man allegedly tried to escape but was intercepted and apprehended by the personnel.
The accused has been identified as Vijay Rampaul, son of Suresh Kumar, resident of Marallian, Jammu.
A personal search led to the recovery of a heroin-like substance, locally known as chitta, from his possession.
Police subsequently registered FIR Number 151/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Miran Sahib and initiated further investigation.
Investigators are now probing the circumstances surrounding the possession of the suspected narcotic substance and its possible source and supply linkages.
Miran Sahib Police has reiterated that operations against drug peddlers will continue and appealed to residents to promptly share information about narcotics-related activities with the police.
