LEH, SEPT 27: Sacred Chams (mask dances) and a display of traditional Thangka paintings marked the second day of the Ladakh Festival 2026 at the Dharma Centre, Choglamsar, offering locals and international visitors a glimpse into Ladakh’s rich Buddhist heritage.
The sacred Chams were performed by venerable monks, while Thangka paintings from various monastic institutions were displayed during the programme, bringing together spiritual traditions and artistic heritage associated with Ladakh’s Buddhist culture.
The event was inaugurated by Tsewang Paljor, Deputy Secretary, LAACL, Leh, while Venerable Dorjey, President of the Ladakh Gonpa Association, attended as chief guest.
Tashi Dolma, Director, Tourism, UT Ladakh, and Faisal Iqbal Tantray, Assistant Director, Tourism, Leh, were also present on the occasion.
A large gathering of locals and tourists from different parts of the world witnessed the traditional performances and Thangka display.
The programme provided visitors with an opportunity to experience Ladakh’s spiritual traditions and appreciate its distinctive Buddhist art and cultural heritage.
The event formed part of the wider Ladakh Festival celebrations aimed at showcasing the region’s living traditions, cultural identity and heritage to audiences from across India and around the world.
