BARAMULLA, SEPT 26: Sheeri Police arrested a drug peddler during checking at Gantamulla and recovered 170 grams of suspected cannabis-like narcotic substance from his possession.
Police intercepted vehicle JK05N-1869 at the Forest Check Post, Gantamulla, while it was travelling from Boniyar towards Baramulla.
During checking, the suspected narcotic substance was recovered from the driver, identified as Javid Ahmed Parray, son of Abdul Satar Parray, resident of Pehlipora, Boniyar.
The recovered substance weighed 170 grams net, while its gross weight with packing material was approximately 210 grams.
Police seized the suspected contraband along with the vehicle.
In this connection, FIR Number 47/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sheeri.
The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the suspected narcotics and identify other persons linked to the case.
Sheeri Police said its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking will continue to disrupt the narcotics supply chain and bring those involved to justice.
