BARAMULLA, SEPT 23: Tangmarg Police has launched a special enforcement drive against harassment and overcharging of tourists and visitors by commercial passenger vehicles, seizing six vehicles found involved in violations.
The crackdown was carried out in the jurisdiction of Police Station Tangmarg following complaints and directions regarding alleged harassment and overcharging of tourists, particularly by commercial passenger vehicles, including Sumos and auto-rickshaws.
During the enforcement operation, six vehicles were seized under the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act for violations detected by the police.
The action comes amid efforts to ensure that tourists and visitors travelling through Tangmarg are provided safe, fair and hassle-free transportation, while preventing practices that could adversely affect the tourism environment and the reputation of the destination.
Baramulla Police has warned commercial transport operators against harassing, overcharging or exploiting tourists and visitors, making it clear that violations of law will invite strict action.
Police said enforcement drives will continue across the district to ensure compliance with traffic and transport regulations and to safeguard the interests of tourists, visitors and the general public.
