AWANTIPORA, SEPT 21: With a focus on tightening investigation and clearing the backlog of criminal cases, SSP Awantipora has directed field officers to ensure time-bound disposal of cases and step up action on pending investigations.
The directions came during a crime review meeting at the District Police Office, Awantipora, where the SSP took stock of investigations, security measures and compliance with decisions taken during earlier review meetings.
The meeting was attended by SDPO Awantipora, SDPO Tral, SDPO Pampore, SHOs of Tral, Awantipora, Pampore and Khrew, besides officers heading various police posts and the Crime Section.
The SSP laid particular emphasis on cases nearing the 60-day and 90-day investigation deadlines, directing investigating officers to ensure timely and quality disposal without compromising the standards of investigation.
The status of NDPS and UAPA cases, missing-person cases, inquest proceedings, verifications and execution of court summons and warrants was also reviewed.
Officers were directed to intensify efforts to trace missing persons and ensure that court summons and warrants are executed without delay. The SSP also stressed strict follow-up of decisions taken during previous meetings.
Calling for stronger public-oriented policing, the SSP directed officers to ensure prompt grievance redressal, professional conduct and accountability at every level.
The meeting concluded with directions to all concerned officers to maintain close supervision of investigations and ensure measurable progress in pending cases.
