NEW DELHI, OCT 6: Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth held an interaction with Dinesh Trivedi, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, focusing on the evolving contours of India-Bangladesh bilateral cooperation and measures to further strengthen defence ties between the two neighbouring countries.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review areas of mutual interest in the bilateral relationship, with particular emphasis on enhancing defence cooperation, institutional engagement and coordination between the two countries’ security establishments.

The discussions assumed significance in the context of India’s continued efforts to deepen structured defence engagement with Bangladesh through sustained military-to-military interaction, professional exchanges and cooperation in areas of shared interest.

The interaction also underlined the importance of close coordination between India’s diplomatic and defence establishments in advancing bilateral objectives and strengthening mechanisms of cooperation with Bangladesh.

The engagement between the COAS and the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh reflects the importance accorded to diplomatic-defence coordination in further consolidating India-Bangladesh relations and expanding opportunities for closer defence ties.

Officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Defence are involved in advancing India’s broader bilateral and defence engagement with Bangladesh.
