JAMMU, OCT 5: A house theft investigation in the Gadigarh area has led to the arrest of a burglar and recovery of gold ornaments worth around ₹15 lakh, with police teams tracing the stolen property during sustained investigation into the reported burglary.
The case was registered at Police Station Satwari following a complaint by Gurjeet Singh, son of late Pushakar Singh, resident of Banyan Enclave near Shaurya International School, Babliyana, who reported that an unidentified person had allegedly entered his residence and stolen gold jewellery.
Acting on the complaint, police registered FIR No. 306/2026 under Sections 305/331(3) BNS and launched an investigation through Police Post Gadigarh. Investigators worked on available leads and subsequently identified Mukesh Kumar, son of Subash Chander, resident of Sector 6, Gangyal and presently residing at Baba Farid Nagar, Seora, as a burglar in the case.
The burglar was apprehended during the investigation, following which police recovered a substantial quantity of jewellery allegedly connected with the theft. The recovered articles include a gold necklace with two danglers, gold Inam set, gold mangalsutra, gold cocktail ring, three pairs of gold tops, gold ring and two gold bangles.
According to police, the recovered jewellery weighs approximately 9.5 to 10 tolas, with its estimated value put at ₹15 lakh. The complainant has identified the recovered articles as the jewellery reported stolen from his residence.
The recovery constitutes a key development in the investigation, while police are now examining the complete sequence of the offence and the possibility of the accused’s involvement in other theft cases. Further questioning and verification of the available leads are underway.
The operation was carried out by the Police Station Satwari team led by SHO Inspector Paramjeet Singh, assisted by PSI Jarnail Singh, Incharge Police Post Gadigarh, under the overall supervision of SDPO South Kuljeet Singh.
Police said further investigation remains in progress and all subsequent legal action will be taken in accordance with the law.
