KUPWARA, OCT 5: In a significant exercise aimed at strengthening operational readiness and coordinated response mechanisms, J&K Police conducted a comprehensive mock drill on law-and-order preparedness and emergency response at District Police Lines (DPL) Kupwara in coordination with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Kupwara.
The exercise was designed to assess the preparedness of frontline personnel to respond swiftly and effectively to a simulated law-and-order situation, while testing the communication channels, mobilisation procedures and coordination mechanisms between Police and SDRF teams.
During the drill, participating personnel were mobilised as per the simulated scenario and demonstrated their assigned operational responsibilities. The exercise placed particular emphasis on rapid mobilisation, real-time communication, crowd-control measures, rescue and evacuation procedures, inter-agency coordination and restoration of normalcy during a challenging situation.
The mock drill provided supervisory officers an opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of the existing response mechanism and identify areas requiring further strengthening. The performance of the participating teams was assessed on parameters including response time, coordination, discipline, communication, deployment and execution of assigned tasks.
Supervising officers issued necessary directions to further enhance the operational preparedness of personnel, with particular focus on reducing response time, improving inter-agency coordination and maintaining discipline and effectiveness during emergent law-and-order situations.
The exercise underscored the importance of regular preparedness drills in keeping response forces operationally ready and ensuring seamless coordination between different agencies during situations requiring immediate deployment, crowd management, rescue or evacuation.
J&K Police reiterated its focus on strengthening preparedness through realistic training and coordinated exercises so that personnel remain equipped to respond effectively to evolving law-and-order challenges while safeguarding public safety and maintaining peace.
